National Blog Month is the perfect time to remind us to use the powerful business tool of blogging. Sharing content and information to your consumers, partners and colleagues while creating a community is the main business reasons to open and maintain your own blog.

Do I need a blog? Having an active interesting blog is a staple in efficient branding and a way to build a successful brand. As a businessperson or a business owner, you must explore the possibilities a blog brings to the table, a chance for sharing intriguing views, beneficial life lessons and useful data.

I am dedicated to my etiquette blog on my site: http://bit.ly/TAMITLL, a place for me to share image branding and etiquette lessons from my world of personal experiences and the industry I work in. Please feel free to share your blog in the comment section; I would love to read your point of view.

A large part of the blog culture is about creating connections between writers and readers and contributing to each other’s knowledge. The free and simple platform that allows many people to share their knowledge and opinions provides a breakout from traditional media, an escape to covering a range of subjects that main media and limited TV outlets deal with, discuss and share.

The intimate nature bloggers has with the readers, that can also provide them with instant feedback and comments, attracted many writers to open a blog. Shortly after the first blog was introduced, the number of blog readers came very close to the number of book readers!

Every blogger is their own content provider, and its personal blog shapes his personal image on the web. But before you start your new blog, here’s a guide to help you plan your blog and your brand image that will be presented through it:

  1. Plan your content strategy! It might sound like a big word, but what it really is, is a small change that will lead to an easy route for writing. For a simple strategy, write a list of the subjects you would like to share and try to put it into general ideas. For example: If you have a bakery and you wish to share recipes, tips and travel baking stories, you should try to stick to a few categories that will make the reader anticipate certain posts and help you channel your creativity and information.
  2. Know your message: Be honest with yourself and decide how you wish to write your blog. Some people choose more technical, informative blogs that operates as an on-going online guide that keeps updating and some choose to share stories from the personal side of things, even on business blogs. Decide what side of the fence you are in and choose the right voice to deliver the message.
  3. Right voice: If your business contains more than a few people, you have to decide who takes on the job and who is the best to speak for and about the company, Some people use ghost writers but they still choose one person to be the face of the blog. As a freelancer or a business manager, it will help you build a crowd that learns to know your specialties and ability to articulate, share information and create a great flow before they even interact you, just from reading your blog posts.
  4. Finding your voice is also about learning how to define your brand image as an individual and company. In my book the IBL CODE – the International Business language, I discuss the advantages of getting to know your key to success, the one thing that makes you greater than the rest. Finding your voice within your own company will take you a step closer into sharing your blog posts with the world and your clients and colleagues.
  5. Consistency is key! Even if you are a fairly large company, it’s best to keep one selected spokesperson for your blog. Inviting others to write and interview with in the blog is an excellent idea, but finding the right writer takes time! Choose wisely and stick with it, instead of constantly search for writers, just develop more ideas within the posts.
  6. A loyal crowd turns your blog into a powerful marketing tool! When you have a crowd that evaluate your posts, you will have a higher chance of success with marketing posts that introduces new products and processes. Your client communication levels can only increase by sharing useful information, exciting news and valuable knowledge.
  7. Create a relationship! Invite readers to share information and comments on your posts. Use it as a tool to interact with your crowd and work towards creating a community that share similar interests. A large organization and a one person business both can benefit from having a relationship with their customers with an open line of communication.

That was my introduction into the world of blogs, by the end of the National Blog Month, I will share more articles about blogs and would love to hear about your favorites!
